Coilhooks - For different applications

Coil hooks are only permitted for transporting objects whose center of gravity is below the fork support during transport. Coil hooks are supplied with and without a counterweight, with and without a safety nose, and with full tines or ¾ tines.

A counterweight is only used to align the empty hook horizontally, making it easier to insert. Coil hooks without a counterweight are only used for low load capacities and short tine lengths, as they have a low dead weight and can, therefore, be easily balanced by hand.

A safety nose prevents the load from slipping if misused or if the load starts to swing. CERTEX advises against dispensing with a safety nose. It should only be considered under special circumstances.

¾ forks are used when very different coil widths are to be moved with the same coil hook. It should be noted that the tine length must be at least 0.75 times the coil width. Due to their design, coil hooks with ¾ tines do not have a safety nose. They also generally have large counterweights (on a short lever arm), which makes them more expensive and heavier than their full-tine counterparts.
