Successful Testing of Three Custom Lifting Devices

Successful Testing of Three Custom Lifting Devices for a Major Wind Energy Client

Our team has successfully tested three in-house–developed lifting devices for a major customer in the wind energy sector. The tools will be used in the assembly of wind turbine components – with the goal of sustainably improving safety, ergonomics, and efficiency throughout the installation process.

Purpose of the Test

The load test (test load: 37 t including self-weight) was conducted to ensure that the new lifting devices reliably meet the high demands of the assembly process. The focus was on functionality, safety, and ergonomic handling of large components used in wind turbine manufacturing.

Overview of the Three Custom Designs

Yaw Ring Lifting Tool (plate spreader beam)
• WLL 22,500 kg
• For the safe handling and precise positioning of the yaw ring

Assembly Station (assembly table for pre-assembly and ergonomic work)
• Load capacity 22,000 kg
• Height-adjustable with integrated rescue access for stretchers

Multipurpose C-Hook
• WLL 2,160 kg
• Multifunctional through the use of adapters – suitable for various control cabinets and components

Key Features & Added Value

  • Combination of maximum safety and practical ergonomics

  • Multifunctionality: one tool for multiple applications

  • Increased efficiency: easy alignment via centering pins, integrated storage for accessories and tools

Results

The load tests were completed successfully:

  • The yaw ring was safely lifted and transported.

  • The assembly station proved to be an ergonomic solution for pre-assembly tasks.

  • The C-hook demonstrated its versatility when handling various components.

👉 Conclusion: All three tools have proven their practical suitability and are ready for deployment in wind turbine assembly operations.
